CHESTER October 16, 2016 -- Dean's Natural Food Market has been selected as the 2016 winner of the 'People's Choice Award' for Best Chili at the Chester Food Festival. The Food Fest, returning to the Harvest Celebration, for a third year, featured chili, soup, and dessert cook-offs. There were 18 food options from 12 contestants (all Morris County restaurants)--all were judged by a special panel in a blind taste test, as well as the public, who voted for a people’s choice winner. Dean's Executive Chef, Scott Sleckman, entered the chili competition with his Eastbound & Down Organic Pulled Pork Chili, which was comprised of organic grass-fed pork chili, served over jalapeño corn bread, topped with crème fraîche, scallions, Carolina mop sauce, and a cheddar jack cheese crisp. In keeping with Dean's high standards, all of the components were made in-house, and all of the ingredients were organic. The award-winning chili will be added to the stores' rotating hot bar offerings. Patrons looking to try the chili can call their local Dean's to see when it will be available. Dean's Natural Food Market will be celebrating it's 20th year of business this November, and has grown to four locations throughout New Jersey. The win comes on the heels of the natural food store's grand opening of their fourth location in Chester, NJ.
