While many of us were busing doing the "Macarena," owner Dean Nelson was busy opening his first store in Ocean, NJ. He had one mission: to serve the health and environmentally conscious consumer. The company started out with a single-location location in 1996, and has since grown to four locations throughout New Jersey. Along the way, the market, which prides itself on its commitment to organic, non-GMO, and environmentally conscious products, has donated upwards of $254,000 to local non-profits, including the Boys and Girls Club, the Cancer Support Community of Central New Jersey, Konscious Youth Development & Service (KYDS), Mary’s Place By The Sea, the SPCA, and Restore the Shore.  “It has been an amazing experience working with and serving so many great people in our communities. I hope we have touched as many lives as have touched us. We will continue to be on the forefront of the organic and non-GMO movements and will represent the best interests of our planet and the people we serve,” says Nelson. Dean’s plans to celebrate its 20th anniversary by taking it back to the decade when it all began—the 90s. December 12-18, 2016, customers will pay close to 90's prices for some of the market’s most popular items, including select 16oz. juices and smoothies for $4.99, Siggi’s yogurt for $1, and Dean’s house-made vegan energy bars for 2 for $5. In addition to the anniversary pricing, Dean’s Natural Food Market employees will be competing to see who can come up with the best 90’s inspired outfits, and the markets will be featuring 90s music in its stores all week-long. Click here for more information about the celebration.
